If the application does not have a specific 'digital' or 'SPDIF' option, then surround sound only works using the analog speaker outputs. Digital audio can only be heard in stereo. How to troubleshoot the problem:
Everything that appears in the tray means that it is a program whose user interface is configured internally to be “near the tray”.
You must check its settings to ensure that it does not remain in the bin when it is reduced or closed.

Using the Task Manager
This tutorial shows you step by step how to remove the DTS Audio Control Panel icon from the taskbar under Windows 7, 8 and 10.
1. Press the[Ctrl] +[Alt] +[Del] keys on your keyboard.
Note: The[Delete] key is the same as the[Delete] key.
2. click Task Manager.
3. click on More details at the bottom right.
4. click on the Start tab at the top of the screen.
Right-click Realtek HD Audio Manager, then click Disable.
6. Restart your PC.

Press Windows + R to enter Regedit and press Enter.
Type ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareRealtekAudioRtkNGUI64General in the address bar.
Search and double-click on ShowTrayIcon. Change the ValueData value to 0 and restart.
